Reverse Depression Instantly

All of us have been there at one time or another. It is those feelings of being completely out of it and we just don't feel normal. We would rather hide away and not deal with anyone and be by ourselves. If those feelings get out of hand and you feel like you can't control them you need to get help. For example, drug use, a poor diet high in sugar or even hormones can cause you to be happy one minute and extremely saddened the next. For others it is merely something that they do when they have feelings of sadness.

If you feel that you need help you have several options. You can go to a psychiatrist or a psychologist. The difference is a psychiatrist can prescribe drugs and a psychologist does not. Drugs are rarely the answer and can cause you to become dependant on the drugs. Then the problem becomes a drug addiction and having to overcome the addiction along with your mental well being.

Another option is to help your self. Depression has become a habit for many people. They have anchored this habit into their being with lots of practice. Something happens and sadness is felt. They tend to think about it and dwell on it. While they are dwelling on the sadness their body takes on a depressed state. After doing this for many years they go into that state almost automatically. If people around them provide lots of attention or love while in this state it is even more of a habit. It can take time to change it but all habits take time to create, even depression. The good news is you can change it immediately.

Have you ever seen someone who "looks" depressed? If not in person then you may have seen an actor or actress portraying a depressed person on TV or in a movie. What is this person doing? What are they doing with their body that is different from someone that is happy? Is this person standing up straight or slouching? How about his head? Is it up or down? Is there a smile or frown? Is the breathing shallow or deep? Are their shoulders up or down? What about the eyes? Are they looking up or down?

When you are feeling down your body acts the same way...down.

Try this simple exercise. Stand up and look in a mirror. Try to imitate a depressed person and notice what you are doing. Do your shoulders drop? Is your head up or down? Do you slouch?
Now think of someone in a happy state. How does someone look when they are happy? Are they looking up or down? Is there a smile or frown? Slouching or straight up?

If you are depressed what you need to do is get out of that "depressed state". You can change your state simply by changing your body language, or physiology. When you are feeling down the easiest and quickest way to change is to change your body.

Try it now and see for your self. Start by looking up and lifting up your head. Look towards the sky and not the ground. Straighten your back, lift your shoulders and stick out your chest just as if you were standing at attention in the military. Now take deep breaths and put a big silly smile on your face. While you're doing this try to think of something depressing. Do you feel depressed? If you do then you changed your physiology in some way. What you are doing with your body is preventing you from feeling bad.

When you take on the body language of someone who is happy you feel happy. This has been proven many times in studies of depression. One particular study took a group of manic-depressives and had them put a big smile on their faces for 20 minutes at a time. They did this every day for a month. After a month of doing this nearly all of the patients had their medications reduced and many were taken off of them completely. They were no longer labeled as manic-depressives.

No matter what the commercials on TV tell you drugs are not the answer long term and can be very dangerous for short term use. You can to do something for yourself to overcome this habit. If you don't feel that you can do this on your own ask someone to help you. Ask a family member or a friend. If they see you looking down tell them to remind you that you are entering your depressed state. Use this to turn yourself around. Make it a game and make it fun. If you enjoy the process you are far more likely to succeed and do it at a faster rate. This is one step to creating a life of vibrant health.

If you feel that you are unable to help yourself or feel you are going to do harm to yourself or others then you should seek the help of a professional immediately.
