Gout Natural Remedies - Better and More Effective Alternatives to Medications

Most people who suffer from gout have, at some point, suffered from the awful side effects most gout medications render. From stomach cramps, to nausea and vomiting, and even diarrhea, the medications commonly prescribed to treat gout can make a gout sufferer's life miserable. It's bad enough the gout is causing so much pain; why put yourself through even more discomfort? Look into some gout natural remedies, instead.

Gout natural remedies are often times more effective than commercial medications. Additionally, most have either no side effects at all, or very few which are mild. Obviously, the best thing to do would be to prevent gout occurrences as much as possible. However, the proverbial "apple a day" doesn't always keep that doctor away. Look for the following gout natural remedies in just about any grocery store!

While not officially recognized as a treatment for gout, many people have claimed relief from eating cherries. Among these claims, there doesn't seem to be any significant difference between what kind of cherries, nor whether they were fresh, frozen, canned, or jarred. The most commonly reported 'treatment' is to either eat ten cherries or more per day, or to take cherry concentrate at the onset of a gout attack.

Surprisingly, charcoal is another popular item among gout natural remedies. Charcoal can be used in many ways to treat a gout attack. You can grind up one half cup of charcoal powder in the blender, with hot water and flax seed. You would then use it as a paste on the affected area, covering it with either cloth or plastic wrap. You could also choose to either take charcoal by mouth, or to submerge the affected area in a basin of charcoal water.

For those of you who aren't fond of making you own pastes, or of cherry juice, you have a third option. Many pharmacies and health food stores are now offering some of the most popular options for gout natural remedies in a pill form. There are a handful of companies that now make these natural pills. Just be sure before you buy them, that you are reading the ingredients. After all, if you're going to try to treat your gout naturally, wouldn't you want to make sure the ingredients are all natural?
